Been proper poorly

Yep my life with Multiple Sclerosis gets in the way of having a life. I have been in bed since last Friday night. I was due to go out to a micro pub to eat but never made it. MS messes with my nervous system, I became constipated and we all know jokes about constipation but it has wrecked my weekend putting me in bed but hopefully that is behind me know. I watched a program tonight by professor Brian Cox and it had some great shots of moths so if I can get a bit of help I am going to try a project on moths. I need to have some help because I aim to put a moth trap out and I needs to be in the garden, those of you that follow my exploits will know I am in a wheelchair. Our garden is down a flight of steps! Have you spotted the problem? Wish me luck.

Never picked a camera all day

I have spent the day at home. I didn't want to go out it was overcast and most of the Day it was blowing a houlie and looked like rain, typical July weather! In fact come time for Heather to get the grandson from school it rained very hard.  So bereft of outside photography opportunities I decided to give the camera a day off. Looking at the weather forecast for tomorrow it seems more of the same. Never mind it could be worse at least I have fibre optic broadband and I can view other people's photos online.

F stops and Aperture priority for beginners

I got my first camera with full PASM control about ten years ago and I started reading all I could about how to control my camera and how to get better pictures. I was a rubbish photographer then and to be hones I am not much better all these years later. My Multiple Sclerosis makes life very difficult for me even typing this out is hard because my fingers are not working as well as they used to. I wish when I had first started reading books I had discovered Youtube because today I found out visually how F stops work and AP etc work and the visual part is important for me because sometimes reading things just doesn't click with my brain. This Youtube clip has worked for me converting the printed word into something my brain can understand. So if like men you need a bit of help with your photography here is our starter for ten.

Camera's at the Euro's and sport's events

I looked at the camera's at the football final and at Wimbledon today. I know they are professionals but the money's worth of kit was phenomenal. Dozens of Canon 1D and some huge lenses. I mean really huge amounts of glass. Assuming each of those set ups was ten grand and each photographer had a backup set up worth half that and say a nice Apple pro laptop and say a studio somewhere any images they managed to sell must be worth a fortune. And they were just the two main sporting events I saw today, there was also the formula one GO at Silverstone today and wheelchair tennis finals. No wonder the likes of Canon and Nikon  are so keen to promote their top of the range camera's. I know all about the people who say it the person behind the camera not the camera that counts but I must say I didn't see anyone using a box brownie or a Kodak Pro1 it was all new gear and all top of the range stuff, I only say one guy using a small camera and in all probability that would have been a Leica M.

I wish I had discovered photography before I became ill I would have loved to have been a professional rather than an enthusiastic snapper. I enjoy just playing about with any of my camera's even if it is taking a picture of a stone or a bee busy collecting pollen. And as I heard on the TV tonight you only ever regret the shots you do not take, the Television pundit was talking about football but to me it is a photography term. Night camera lovers I need some sleep.

I dont do ENVY but I could make an exception for the Pentax K-1

I am the first to congratulate anyone if they have a good bit of kit. I don't envy anyone but if I see someone with the new Pentax K-1 you may see me not being as humble as normal. I really fancy this new full frame model from Pentax. It is not beyond the realms of possibility with a camera body only price being quoted at Park Cameras of £1600 I wont be rushing out any day soon to buy one but it is not so expensive that I cannot dream. Since Ricoh acquired Pentax the brand seems to have been revitalised and I for one may consider a Pentax as my next camera.
